How to make honey garlic chicken wings. This recipe instructs you to bake the wings to tender and crispy perfection after which to toss them in the delectable honey garlic sauce until they are richly coated. Flavor customization options for the base sauce recipe are suggested.
Preheat oven to 425 F. Line a baking sheet with foil, then fit with wire rack.
Pat dry the wings, arrange over the wire rack and season with salt and pepper, generously. Flip to season on both sides.
Bake wings for 20 minutes, take them out and flip them. Bake for another 20 minutes, take them out and flip them. Bake for another 10-15 minutes until they are crispy to your liking and take them out of the oven.**
While the wings are in the oven make the honey garlic sauce. Over medium-low heat melt the butter and saute the minced garlic until just fragrant. Add the honey and stir it in. Simmer for about a minute and turn off the heat. Keep warm.
When the wings are out of the oven trasnfer the honey garlic sauce to a large mixing bowl. Add the wings and toss to coat them very well in the sauce. Serve immediately.

* Use a multi-floral or clover honey.**Very small wing sections are likely to be fully cooked and crispy within only 5 minutes after the second flipping. Use your own judgement as to when the wings are cooked to your liking. Larger wing sections could take up to 20 minutes after the secon flipping to get nice and crispy.Optional Ingredients
Add 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar after you add the honey to introduce acidity to the base sauce.
Add 2 minced garlic cloves after you have worked in the honey to add a fresh, zippy garlic bite to the sauce if you are looking for stronger garlic presence.
Add 1 tablespoon (or to taste) of hot sauce at the time you add the honey to make a spicy sauce. Or ½ teaspoon of cayenne peppper.
Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 2 teaspoon of sesame seeds for an Asian flair. You could also add rice vinegar or mirin to taste.
